BlueSky Backs Tolotolo o Tama Uli

Wednesday 28th May, Apia, Samoa – The Tolotolo a Tama Uli from Salelologa will be heading into this year’s Independence Fautasi Race with the backing of BlueSky Samoa, after the company presented a cheque of $10,000 to assist them with their preparations. An extra offer of $5,000 was also offered to Pauli Ivan Williams and his crew, as a bonus should they come out as the winners of the Independence race.

This is not the first time BlueSky has supported the fautasi from Salelologa in the big island of Savai’i.  BlueSky and Tolotolo’s partnership dates back to 2011, where CEO Aoe’e Adolfo Montenegro presented the 70-man crew with brand new Samsung handsets as well a a monetary contribution from the company for the team’s further development, after they won the 2011 Teuila Fautasi race.  BlueSky also sponsored the Tolotolo in last year’s Independence race, where Pauli and his crew crossed the finish line in first place, and received a bonus cheque of $10,000.

BlueSky’s Country Manager, Toleafoa Douglas Creevey, presented BlueSky’s sponsorship offer to the crew of Tolotolo.   “We at BlueSky believe that the Tolotolo already has what it needs to succeed, we just want to make the road to success a little easier.  In getting behind the Tolotolo, we aim to ensure the continued growth and development of the sport of fautasi racing in Samoa.”

Captain of the Tolotolo, Pauli Ivan Williams, expressed his sincere gratitude to BlueSky on behalf of his crew and their village and supporters for coming on board again to help them with their preparations.

This year’s fautasi race will take place this Saturday, 31st May 2014 .

BlueSky Sponsors the Samoa Independence Marathon

Monday 26th May, Apia, Samoa – In a press conference held today at their Maluafou headquarters, Bluesky Samoa officially announced its sponsorship of the internationally certified Samoa Independence Marathon, in partnership with the US Veterans of Samoa.

The Marathon which is a distance of 26 miles, will take place during the 52nd Independence celebrations. It has attracted much local interest with many avid long distance runners in the country eager to join in such a competition, and even enthusiasts from across the seas.

Members of the US Veterans of Samoa association were on hand to receive the sponsorship contribution of $10,000, which was handed over by BlueSky’s Country Manager Toleafoa Douglas Creevey.  According to Toleafoa, “This is the third year in a row that we’ve partnered with the US Vets Association to bring about the Samoa Marathon, and it is always one of the most eagerly anticipated events of the Independence celebrations. It is a huge draw for both national and international sports fans. We are very excited to be an integral part of this event, which is an excellent platform for the further development of the sport in Samoa.”

The US Veterans of Samoa Association thanked Bluesky for their generous support in making such a significant event happen, and one which the US Veterans of Samoa are very passionate about. BlueSky and Pualele Join Forces for 2014 Savaii Crossing

Thursday 15th May, Apia, Samoa – BlueSky Samoa and the Pualele Outrigger Canoe Club (POCC) are very excited to announce the Bluesky 2014 Savai’i Crossing, the fifth outrigger paddling Savai’i Crossing event which will take place on Saturday, 24 May 2014, from Aggie’s Resort, Mulifanua to Savai’i and back.

There will be a mix of local and international outrigger canoeing clubs fielding teams in either the Open Men’s or Open Women’s Division.  This year will be the first time and Open Women’s category will be included in this event, which speaks of the rising popularity of paddling among the female population. The Open Men’s event consists of teams from the six local clubs – Nafanua, Laumei,  Tautai, Aliyah, Pualele and Vaai Lau Foe – as well as teams from Alo Samoa Outrigger Canoeing Club in neighbouring American Samoa.  Nafanua, Tautai and Pualele are the local clubs which will be fielding an Open Women’s team, as well as one from Alo Samoa OCC.  A mixed team from Canberra, Australia, the “Ice Dragons” have also entered and will be racing alongside the Open Men’s event.

As in previous years the 2014 Bluesky Savaii Crossing will be used to raise community awareness of cancer and the important work that the Samoa Cancer Society does to promote healthy lifestyles. This year the Society would like to draw attention to Childhood Cancer which is a significant cause of childhood death in developing countries. BlueSky issues $1 million dividend to UTOS

Apia, SAMOA, May 9, 2014: In a press conference today, BlueSky Samoa announced more than $4 million tala dividend to its shareholders for the year ended 31 December 2013 which include the Unit Trust of Samoa (UTOS), local shareholders and BlueSky Communications in American Samoa.
To be able to give back again to its shareholders within three years of Blueskys launch in Samoa is testimony that Bluesky is growing from strength to strength thanks to the confidence of the Samoan community. Country Manager Toleafoa Douglas Creevey added that the management and staff of Bluesky will continue to improve the performance of the company, both financially and its multifaceted networks.

The total dividend received by UTOS from its shares in Bluesky since becoming shareholder in 2011 is $2,497,842. This includes the $1 million tala dividend presented today.

Chief Executive Officer of UTOS, Justina Sau stated, We are happy to receive another $1 million dividend from Bluesky Samoa. It is an indication that the company has continued to move in a positive direction, so we are expecting the value of our shares in Bluesky Samoa to continue to grow in the future. Ultimately, our Unitholders are the beneficiaries of this dividend. The value of their investment in UTOS immediately increased by 3.4%(or 5 sene per unit) after the dividend was declared. If you look at it in another way, it means that each Unitholder of UTOS receives a 5 sene dividend form Bluesky Samoa for each unit they hold.

Another benefit to the unit holder is a UTOS Benefit Mobile Plan. This plan is made especially for those who are unit holders from BlueSky Samoa.

BlueSky and Samoa International Events Join Forces

Friday 14th February, Apia, Samoa – BlueSky Samoa and Samoa International Events have announced that they are renewing their partnership for the second year to bring you the Samoa Triathlon Series.

The announcement, made at a press conference held at the BlueSky headquarters in Maluafou today, outlined the programme for the upcoming Triathlon Series, with the first race kicking off tomorrow, Saturday 15th February 2014.

BlueSky’s contribution to Samoa International events includes $30,000 in cash and $10,000 in kind, bringing the total sponsorship value to $40,000SAT.

Following the success of last year’s BlueSky Samoa Half Iron, Bluesky has again agreed to come on board to support the development of the sport of triathlon in Samoa.

BlueSky Samoa’s Country Manager, Toleafoa Douglas Creevey, says, “We want to help with the development of this sport in Samoa as we believe that Samoans have the potential to succeed in it.  Darren Young and Elia Lasa are very good examples.  Also, this is a great opportunity to empower our youth, as we saw a few young boys take part in last year’s BlueSky Half Iron race.  This is why BlueSky is once again joining forces with Samoa International Events to bring you this year’s Samoa Triathlon Series.”
