Position Title: Device Specialist

Position Summary:

Managing the device line up for all Bluesky products including researching, trending, testing and purchasing telecom equipment to ensure that the highest quality products are delivered to our customers at competitive prices. This position requires strong technical and analytical skills in order to develop test plans, monitor industry trends, and maintain stock trends to ensure we stock best in market devices for all Bluesky products.                                                                                                                         


Major Responsibilities

  • Researching to ascertain the best handsets and suppliers in terms of best value, delivery schedules and quality
  • Liaising between suppliers, manufacturers, relevant internal departments and customers to ensure products are delivered in a timely manner
  • Keeping contract files and using them as reference for the future
  • Monitor device orders until final delivery and payments are completed
  • Report and discuss controversial or difficult issues with supervisor, as well as present recommended course of action
  • Negotiate price and purchasing terms with suppliers to obtain the best possible value and conditions for the devices being purchased
  • Review sales trends, research what’s hot, forecast, and submit a quarterly device order for approval
  • Developing detailed test plans that define each device capability to test including customer specific features; determining pass/fail test criteria
  • Prioritize and isolate pre and post launch device issues
  • Contribute to the creation of a centralized database for all information storage and sharing.
  • Work collaboratively with team members from various department to test devices and train relevant departments on different devices

Key Requirements and Competencies

Qualifications/ Experience:
  • Bachelor of Commerce/Business (Marketing), Telecommunications, or related major
  • +1 years of experiences on mobile device testing, preferred
Knowledge/ Skills /Ability:
  • Be familiar with all functionalities on mobile phones, broadband, fixed line and other consumer devices.
  • Sound knowledge of telecommunications products and services
  • Demonstrated focus on fulfilling customer’s needs
  • Strong communication skills and demonstrated ability to manage cross functional teams to achieve pre-defined outcomes
  • Decision making and problem solving skills
  • Strong analytical background with proven ability to interpret and analyze market and customer usage data
  • Strong computer skills
  • Competent negotiator
  • Communicate effectively in both verbal (i.e. day-to-day discussions, team meetings) and written (requirements and design specifications) form, as well as have an overall ability to be clear and concise in all communications.
  • The individual must have strong wireless (CDMA and GSM) and wireless carrier OS technical skills.
  • Be able to clearly communicate complex test designs and solutions in clear, concise and easily readable format to both technical and non-technical personnel.
  • Familiar with the following: LTE, GSM, CDMA, Chip, UMTS & CDMA, Sanity testing, accelerated life test, software testing for performance smart phone/feature phone, Multimedia features, Google App testing, Checklist creation.
